After a recent game, our basketball team received some concerning input from an opposing team's sportmom. We hoped her comments were untrue but they were never-the-less graciously accepted. To ever be able to give her praise would seem out of the question. A few days after the disappointing assessment was administered a sweet and extensive apology was received from this sportmom asking forgiveness for her poor sportmanship. So the next step? A perfect opportunity to give willing praise (see the SPORTMOM E-votional on 1-18-11). Here is a portion of the response: I am so impressed with the strong character you displayed in your apology letter... thank you for letting us know "the rest of the story" . . . as a "sportmom" you get the "DO IT RIGHT" award for follow-up!
As a Christian (yes, that is why she was able to move forward!) this Sportmom displayed how to walk through self-induced tough times and on to banner-waving success! She has taken a weak point and turned it into being a poster child for humility and righteousness. Yay to her! What a splendid outcome - it glorified our Father in heaven and spoke volumes to the world. And that is life . . . BEHIND THE BENCH!
