Getting rid of something is the first step in making way for the new. Coach and I make it a habit to empty our closets of the old or unused clothing when filling them with new and useable garments. This process keeps our closets in check as well as our decisions on what to wear much easier.
As sportmoms we know that the empty stomachs of our athletes require adequate filling before rigorous, energy-requiring events can be accomplished. Filling up an already full stomach can cause lethargic and less-than-optimum performance. On the other hand, leaving the stomach empty when nourishment is needed also compromises the ability to compete. Filling an empty tummy with junk foods or candy is also not the answer…even though our child may prefer Skittles rather than the apple. Filling the tummies with right foods is our goal.
Our spiritual lives also require the on-going process of being EMPTIED AND FILLED. What do I need to remove from the closet of my soul? Have self-absorbed activities overtaken it? Identify the unnecessary and discard. But don’t stop there, ask God to replace them with meaningful activities that produce optimum results.
"Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit." Ephesians 5:18
FREE REFILLS: When the cup of self indulgence leaves you empty, go to God for a Holy Spirit re-fill.
