Recently Coach received a new gadget as a gift from me - an electronic tablet for book reading.
A couple of details . . . first, Coach doesn't go for gadgets electronic or otherwise. For instance he uses a hand can opener because "it works better"...I use the electric countertop opener or our little mouse opener with built-in battery because "they work a lot easier". Second, although he loves to read and this is the perfect gift for an avid reader, getting the books onto the tablet would not be a detail that he will want to tackle.
With these details looming it was rather easy to avoid this special gift. After all it would be my responsibility to "buy" a book when he wanted one and tutor him in the use of it. Making it simple and easier than manually going to the bookstore, buying a book, reading it, and then storing or discarding it was a daunting assignment.
The details were definitely defeating so my "if-it's-not broken-don't-replace-it" husband won - he got more new golf clubs instead! The derailing problems were certainly in the DETAILS. And so is life BEHIND THE BENCH!
