As you can see from the last blog entry, I was in Florida for the past week.  This trip was jamb packed with "amazing happenstances" . . . ie God's fingerprints!  I can't wait to share this one with you . . .

I left my sister's house early on my way to the airport because there is a certain shopping area and a particular store that is always fun to visit.  As I was merrily on my way with a couple of extra hours at my disposal I arrived at my destination (Viera Mall), parked my car and walked to a bench as I finished a phone conversation (Florida has no cell phone restrictions . . . yay!) before attacking my favorite stores.  Suddenly two cars backed out opposite one another at the same time and you know the result . . . they smacked into each other bumper to bumper!  Both drivers were elderly but one was irrate so I quickly said good-bye on the phone continuing to hold it in my hand.  I stood by the two gentlemen as they disagreed on what happened and spoke up as to what I saw.  Seeing that the situation may need further help and wanting to be on my way, I went over to the wife of the gentleman who agreed with what I had seen to give her my name and phone number in case the other driver caused problems in the future. As I wrote down the car license and make of car for them I casually asked her name ... .Winefred Horschel...and I was on my way!

At the first store I selected my an item then decided I'd better call the party back that was so rudely interrupted by the accident.  OH NO - NO PHONE . . . dumped my purse . . . STILL NO PHONE . . . flight leaves in 4 hours and I have an hour's drive to the airport and . . . NO PHONE!   With tears in my eyes and gulping back a full blown melt-down, I asked the store manager if  a phone had been turned in ... NOPE!  Called my cell phone . . . NO ANSWER!  All my numbers, of course, are in my phone and Coach is on speed dial so I called our home number . . . NO ANSWER so I left a tearful message about what had happened.

I began calling out to the Lord for His HELP -  He stepped into the picture BIG TIME.  The store personnel let me use their phone to call wherever I needed and helped me with the information I had which was a last name that I wasn't even sure how to spell and a first name that harkened back to another era . . . and no clue as to where they live?  A clerk called directory assistance and with a spelling that I was unsure of and no first name got 2 numbers in the area.  The first didn't answer and the second asked me what the first names of the people I was looking for were.  Oops . . . not knowing his name I said that the wife's name was something like Penelope.  She answered, "That is good enough - I am Henry's sister and his wife is Winefred.  What is going on?"  I was aghast . . . we found a relative - amazing!  After explaining the circumstances and my misplaced phone, she said she would call them at home and have them call me at the store.

I asked the store to let me know if a call came in and retreated to the car to pull myself and my make-up together. Within 10 minutes the call came . . . it was Winefred.  She began by telling me that she checked her purse and my phone wasn't there . . . then she went to the car to look and as she walked up to it . . . THERE IT WAS - LAYING ON THE HOOD OF THE CAR! (right where I had left it) Now Henry and Winefred  live 15 or 20 minutes away from the mall and they had gone to pick up their grand kids at school on their way home . . .all this time THE PHONE REMAINED IN PLACE (it has a vinyl cover). . . they were awe-struck - I was awe-struck - the clerks were awe-struck and God was glorified!

In 20 minutes or so my new friends, Henry and Winefred, drove up honking as they arrived WITH MY PHONE - they were beaming, I was beaming and I'm sure God was too!  Thank you, Jesus!  And I made sure they knew WHO was in charge of this event!  They smiled and nodded -  I am still shaking my head in disbelief...

That is awesome! God allows us to loose things so He can find them reminding us who is in control! I left my phone in Staples one day, a day that I had decided to "be cheerful always". The worker called my home phone and her message went something like this, "Michelle, you left your phone in Staples. I saw the picture on the screen and knew right away who you were, the one who laughed with me. It is here waiting for you." I thought of all the times I make the check out person know about my annoyance and was overly thankful for my cheerful decision that day. I prayed to God that it would be my everyday decision because you never know when you will want your phone returned to you.
