Yesterday we played Blanchet and held on to a berth in the final game of the Oregon State 3A Basketball Playoffs. It was a hard-fought game. FANS-FANS-FANS arrived and supported the team with great enthusiasm. Salem Academy girls are in the playoffs and have a rousing student support section who joined ours and gave strong voice to our crowd! We did the same for them in their game that followed - what brotherly love!
Here is a photo of the HORIZON HAWK bench during this semi-final game. Now we move on to the final game to determine this year's State Champion. It is a rare privilege to have played in the final game for 4 years in a row. Who will we play tonight? The Dayton Pirates - our arch rival in our own league - amazing!
The Hawk Team is doing well - only a couple of minor injuries and no illness that is affecting our play (only a sportmom would be sure to include this info). They are eating well - they weathered pouring rain to enjoy a steak-chicken-rib dinner after the game. Our community HOSTS arranged for the team to go to a locals place in Coos Bay called Coach House - the food was outstanding! Pastor Stan, Karen and his parents joined us - what a treat!
Today the team will take a walk on the beach, breathe in the sea air and gear up for tonight's competition. And that is a peek into life BEHIND THE BENCH!
