HELP!

Crying out for HELP is second nature to a young child.  Mom or Dad goes quickly to the side of their offspring at the first sign of distress.  Proceeding to meet the obvious or expressed need at hand, the dutiful and attentive parent kisses the “ouchie”, bandages the wound, comforts the fear and holds the child tight until they run off to play once again.

Sportmoms go into action when our athletes are injured on the fields or courts of play.  Even though they are attended to physically by trainers or coaches, the cry for HELP pierces to the very core of our being.  We pray, anxiously watch and begin to prepare for the attentive comfort and assistance needed when they return home.

God responds to us in this same way.  David, a man after God’s own heart felt the pain of suffering as he faced severe and life-threatening circumstances.  His constant outcry to the Lord for HELP is recorded throughout the Psalms.  Our Heavenly Father responded to him with protection beyond human capabilities.  Here is David’s testimony to God’s attentiveness…

I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise and I have been saved from my enemies.  The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.   The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me.  In my distress I called to the Lord
; I cried to my God for help.  From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.  Psalm 18:3-6 NIV

When we're faced with the “ouchies” of life, we have the same opportunity to cry out to our God for HELP as David did.  His attentive response will be sure and satisfying just as it was for David... With His presence and comfort, soon we are ready to face the world again.

PRAYER: I choose to cry out to you, Father God.  When issues of life surround me, it is your attentiveness that comforts me.  Thank you for hearing my cries for HELP, for guiding me through each distress and for keeping me on the path of righteousness.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

CRY 'HELP' TO GOD - LET HIM KISS YOUR “OUCHIES”!
