TWO KINDS of candy – chocolate and all the rest…I prefer chocolate! Two kinds of chocolate – with nuts and without…I prefer with! Two kinds of nuts – walnuts or almonds…I’ll take almonds!
Coaches often find they have TWO KINDS of athletes on their team. Those that make mistakes and those that think they make no mistakes. Since coaching is a teaching + doing process, mistakes offer an opportunity for the coach to guide and direct them in preparation for the future.
“If you’re not making mistakes, then you’re not doing anything, I’m positive that a doer makes mistakes.” John Wooden, renowned UCLA basketball coach
There are also TWO KINDS of responses we can have as we do life. We can choose to lean heavily on God's directive to point us in the right direction.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 NIV
Or, we can choose to lean heavily on our own strength by adopting the I-can-do-it-myself approach.
“There are TWO KINDS of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.” C. S. Lewis
As Christ followers, a thy-will-be-done approach to our circumstances brings us into alignment with God's ultimate purpose for us. Jesus modeled this when he faced death on the cross and today we are in relationship with our Creator because of it.
PRAYER: Today I choose to be one who trusts in you as life unfolds before me May my thoughts be your thoughts and my ways your ways…always! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
THE JESUS RESPONSE IS THE BEST KIND OF RESPONSE!
