“A costume is something you put on and pretend that you are what you are wearing. A uniform, on the other hand, reminds you that you are, in fact, what you wear.” Eunice McGarrahan
Recently my husband came home with this statement after over 45 years of coaching, “Today I handed out the uniforms…you know, that is an important day.” The uniform identifies a team member making the statement, “I belong!" And with it comes the responsibility of competing in the games along with representing the school.
As Christians our identity also comes by WEARING THE UNIFORM.
put on the shining armor of right living…put on the Lord Jesus Christ… Romans 13:12,13a
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Galatians 3:2 KJV
put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:24 NIV
Receiving our new uniform is an important day, it is the day we believed. Then we put on this uniform with humility and pride taking on the responsibility that comes with it. It is not pretending to be what we aren’t but of becoming more and more of who we are in Christ.
PRAYER: Today I climb into the armor of light that you have provided for me. May my words and deeds identify me as belonging to you. WEARING THE UNIFORM of your grace and salvation I will boldly represent you to my world standing ready to help. In Jesus Name, Amen.
CHRIST MAKES US WORTHY OF WEARING GOD’S UNIFORM!
