ANOTHER THANKFUL HEART

BEHIND THE BENCH there are many relationships, acquaintances and even close friends that we are thanking our Heavenly Father for bringing into our lives. One of these special people has chosen to post her thankful thoughts on her Facebook wall.  Her name is Lori Myers, now a Defense Attorney in Southern California.  As a best friend to our daughter as they processed through Middle School, High School and even through their college years, Lori's expressions of faith now impact many.  With her permission I am re-posting her recent prayer of thanks and some of her thoughts that followed.

"I am Thankful for Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior! Thank you for giving me the strength in life to pick myself up when I feel lost, forgiving me for my sins, dying on the cross for me and for always guiding me through this roller coaster of a life. Thank you for always accepting me when I lose my way from you, when life seems dark- you always show me the way...when I find my peaceful plac
e...and listen, you are always the light guiding me out of the darkness. Thank you, I would be so lost without you."

When I asked Lori for permission to include her post here, her answer also deserved to be included.  It brings this BEHIND THE BENCH Sportmom to tears as she speaks of the early death of her best friend and the impact it had on her spiritual development.  You see,  Lori's friend was our daughter, Jayme, and here is what she wrote...

"I give thanks for Jayme.  It was only because of (and after) her death that I can honestly say that I began my authentic relationship with the Lord. I was so depressed and yearned for something to fill my void and grief that I gave myself completely to him. The greatest gift her death gave me, was my relationship with my Lord and Savior."

Eternal value flowing from our tragic life experience brings me to my knees in thankfulness even for this part of my life BEHIND THE BENCH.
