NOISY SILENCE

Sitting in the stands of a game can get very noisy...with fans loudly expressing their personal opinions for all to hear,  rousing cheers chanted over and over, and even well-meaning supporters sometimes becoming over-zealous. This noise is in response to the game which carries its own high volume...buzzers, whistles, balls bouncing, announcers announcing.  Am I complaining?  No...it is part of being a coach's wife.  Sometimes the noise becomes so intense that it creates a kind of silence...an eerie sort of hideaway in the middle of loudness.  Noise and silence...both at the same time and both a part of life BEHIND THE BENCH.  Here are a few quotes to ponder...

Danny Dutton, Chula Vista, Ca 3rd grader on his assignment to explain God:
"He hears everything, there must be a terrible  lot of noise in His ears, unless He has thought of a way to turn it off."

"Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence."
  Max Ehrmann

"10 persons who speak make more noise than 10,000 who are silent."  Napoleon  Bonaparte

"Some persons talk simply because they think sound is more manageable than silence."  Margaret Halsey

"God's silences are His answers. If we only take as answers those that are visible to our senses, we are in a very elementary condition of grace."  Oswald Chambers
