BEHIND THE BENCH PRAYER
To put it lightly, the “what ifs” reign,
Dancing like sunbeams in my brain,
Bringing with them unwanted pain,
Since unknowns are yet to gain.
Will this year bring many wins …
Crossing my face with many grins?
What if it holds the pain of chagrIns...
Along with a plethora of badly bruised shins.
Then there’s the “What if” of passing it on…
That would be “flu bug” and it must be gone.
Perhaps, just maybe, it can be withdrawn…
If the players quit sneezing upon.
Oh my, there are so many ouches in the “what ifs”,
It’s time to gaze on the “what is”…
Time to put my hand into His,
Looking to Jesus - assurance He gives.
The “what is”, then, on which I'll remain,
Is for a new season that You will sustain…
Leading and guiding...I give you full rein,
Of the team’s bodies to keep and maintain.
With thankful repentence - the "what ifs" behind,
Today’s many blessings I will search for and find…
Your perfect and fitting "what is" design,
Followed by sought-after sweet peace of mind. by Janet Brown
