Although it seemed so scary to me as a child, my mother knew that I would be back to running again soon and that this would not affect me permanently...it was a MOMENTARY TROUBLE.
When a sport team or athlete loses in a competition, it can be devastating and cause the future to look dim. However, the coach immediately begins to encourage them in their strengths saying, “We’ll work on some things...we can do it and we will beat them next time!” The MOMENTARY TROUBLE becomes a stepping stone to greater achievements.
God’s word speaks of our earthly body and the problems we encounter. The Apostle Paul calls them MOMENTARY TROUBLES...
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Looking beyond the immediate and focusing on the unseen glory God has in store for us is a faith-driven comfort. This great and glorious thing He has planned for us is also a challenge requiring on-purpose thinking.
PRAYER: Lord, please help me to look at your eternal plan for me when the MOMENTARY TROUBLES come my way. Thank you for reminding me that this life is temporary. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
