The July E-votional focuses on our Word for 2016 – ABOUND.
… abound in everything - in faith, in words, in knowledge, in diligence, in love toward one another - also remembering to abound IN GRACE. 2 Corinthians 8:7 paraphrased
The giving and receiving of the much-needed grace card can often be difficult at best and seemingly impossible at worst. When I receive the gift of grace from another it immediately leads me into a state of humility, thankfulness and renewed determination to not repeat the action again. When I offer grace to another it overcomes the hurt I may have felt, opens the door to strengthening a relationship and puts a bounce back into my steps.
God tells us in His Word that He grows in us the ability to both give and receive grace…
And God is able to make all grace abound in you… 2 Corinthians 9:9a
It can be very difficult to offer grace particularly when a fellow Christian chooses to operate in a less than becoming way. Does this mean I am off the hook to offer grace? Perhaps it would seem reasonable, however God’s Word gives us this reminder…
But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound... Romans 5:20 KJV
PRAYER: No matter how deep sin goes, your grace goes deeper and so can mine. I open myself to your grace. May I receive it from You and genuinely give it to and receive it from others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
