(Our word for 2012 is DELIGHT - here the November entry)
T
here are many things that delight me.  The laughter of my grandchildren, the aroma of a beautiful lily, the freshness of an ironed pillow-case, the smile on my husband’s face after a big win and encouraging notes from dear friends are just a few.  To hear, to smell, to feel, to see the world around me paves the way to delightful experiences.

A sport team experiences delight when they conquer a fierce competitor. It is found in the coming together against a foe and succeeding.  Unity can certainly bring delightful results.

There is a way of living that brings even more delight than what I have mentioned.  It is in knowing and doing what is right - the "iDelight" way!

HOW DO WE KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT TO DO?
David, the psalmist, shares the secret …
I  have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you…I DELIGHT in
your decrees;  I will not neglect your word
.
  Psalm 119: 11& 16 NIV

Eight times in Psalm 119 David expresses his dependence on God’s Word for right living.  We
will know what is right to do when we purposefully embrace the Word of God...the first step in iDelight living.

Knowing what is right brings great delight.

AND DO WE DO WHAT IS RIGHT?
Hiding God’s Word in our hearts must then be followed closely by acting on that knowledge.  This can be a very serious challenge.  Neglect is the fierce competitor of doing. To neglect what we know – to ignore it – brings iDelight living to a stand still.

Doing what is right brings great delight.

These God-given principles bring about soul-satisfying results when we put them to work in our  everyday lives.  Our devotion to Him is found in believing and following  the rules of his Word.   As they are absorbed into the very center of our thought-life (hidden in our hearts) we find not a duty to God’s Word but pure delight in it.  May we say along with David

I will delight myself in Your commandments, which I love.  Psalm 119:47 NIV

Blessings…as iDelight living is hidden in your heart.
