Life is filled with the wearing outs and the getting olds. Our shoes, tires, computers, phones … everything around us as well as our bodies tends toward this process. It is disheartening because we become attached to our things. At the same time, it is invigorating because we get something new in their place. Sometimes, however, the old can be made new. Today we consider … OPERATION RESTORE.
Each year Coach loses a team that he has become attached to and prepares for a new team configuration in the season to come. The process means letting go of the old and moving forward with the new. He utilizes the remnant of the former team and welcomes the new players coming in. By reconfiguring and adjusting a new and different team is formed. The old is made new...OPERATION RESTORE.
Our God is the author of OPERATION RESTORE…
You have begun to live the new life, in which you are being made new and are becoming like the One who made you. Colossians 3:10 NCV
He is remaking us from the inside out...we are in the process of being restored. When we find ourselves attached to the old but needing the new, here are THREE R’s TO RESTORATION…
#1 RECOGNIZE - Like Job, our days can become burdened with losses and disappointments…
I am sick at heart. How long, O Lord, until you restore me? Restore the sparkle to my eyes… Psalm 6:30 & 13:3 (portions) NLT
#2 REPENT - Like David the Psalmist, we can offer this prayer…
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Psalm 51:21 NIV
#3 REST – Trust God’s promise to renew and invigorate our spirits …
I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts. Isaiah 57:15 NLT
