WATERING BUCKET

Watering is non-negotiable for healthy foliage, flowers and trees.  Whether it comes in the form of rain, snow, hail, a river, sprinkler system or regular old WATERING BUCKET, it is the single and-most needed element required for life-giving sustenance to thirsty plants.

A water-trough is found on every animal farm.  It is essential to the health and welfare of grazing animals.  Little doggies have their own private water bowl which is often personalized with their name on it.

The personal water bottle has become a sign of health in our society today for us.  From marathon runners to walking the mall, hydrating our bodies has become a good habit.  We carry them in our purses, in our cars, in our backpacks.  Coaches ensure that this is done regularly during competition often providing an ice-water dispenser for the team’s use – the human water trough of today.  Keeping these containers full and available is an on-going and necessary task to support  thirsty athletes.

Drinking from our water bottles satisfies only for that time and must be repeated in order to sustain our physical bodies Jesus spoke of His thirst-quenching water with these words…

“Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again.” John 4:13 NCV

Then Jesus offers WATER for the soul…

"…but whoever drinks the water I give will never be thirsty. The water I give will become a spring of water gushing up inside that person, giving eternal life.” John 4:14 NCV

Like the Psalmist, David, our parched souls long for to be refreshed…

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1 NIV

"I sat there in despair, my spirit draining away, my heart heavy, like lead. I remembered the old days, went over all you’ve done, pondered the ways you’ve worked, Stretched out my hands to you, as thirsty for you as a desert thirsty for rain."  Psalm 143:5-6 The Message

At one time or another we all long for a refreshed spirit, sustaining power, and a secure future. Christ came pours on our thirsty souls water from His never-ending WATERING BUCKET.  We are filled with His sustaining power, refreshing spirit and He sets eternity in our hearts.

“Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35

"Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life."  Revelations 22:17b

Blessings… as you sip from, gulp down, and always carry with you the living water - Jesus Christ.
